BYC Competition Sailing As with most sailing clubs, our activities are centred around racing - but in a friendly, supporting atmosphere. racing is the challenge to sail a set course in the shortest possible time. Differences between classes of boats and skill level of crew are balanced by a system of handicapping (Yardsticks), ensuring all competitors ahve an equal chance of success. The club holds races on most Sundays during the sailing season (October to April inclusive). the briefing session for the Sunday afternoon racing is held at 1pm with racing commencing at approximately 2pm. Trophies for the handicap series, division series, class series and overall Club Champion are presented at the AGM and presentation function which is held in mid-July. Visitors are most welcome to race and can download the Visitor Racing Form below. |
